Western Technical College of La Crosse and UW-Stout have announced a transfer agreement for students beginning this fall.

The agreement allows students who complete the electromechanical technology and the automation systems technology associate degree programs to transfer into UW-Stout’s Bachelor of Science program in engineering technology in the automation concentration.

In addition, students from Western’s mechanical design technology program can transfer into the mechanical design concentration.

The engineering technology program at UW-Stout has four concentrations.

“This is an exciting time for our students,” said Josh Gamer, dean of the Integrated Technology division at Western. “Graduates who have an interest in pursuing an engineering technology bachelor’s degree can now complete it at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in as little as 67 credits. This is a career area with tremendous job growth and high wages.”

“We are excited to partner with Western in a transfer agreement that creates additional pathways for student career readiness,” said Gindy Neidermyer, interim dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Management at UW-Stout.

“Western’s alumni in these fields will find the UW-Stout engineering technology program and its concentrations in mechanical design and automation to be a great next step in their advancement as leaders in the engineering fields,” Neidermyer added.

UW-Stout’s engineering technology program, which has four concentrations, is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET
