Do More on Day One.
Technology-forward. Industry-informed. People-focused.
Whether you pursue a degree in STEM, business, education or design, our polytechnic blend of applied learning and research and career-focused experiences will prepare you to lead the future of your field. UW-Stout offers 50+ undergraduate majors and 70+ minors and 20+ graduate degrees in unique and leading areas—many of which aren't offered anywhere else in the Midwest.
Stout Core Classes
Your UW-Stout education and your career start with 40 foundational Stout Core credits. These classes will build your confidence and give you the collaborative, communication and critical-thinking skills that employers look for. Your Stout Core classes can enhance your degree, and with good planning, you can earn a degree minor in the process. That means whichever of our polytechnic programs you pursue, Stout Core will give you more time in your field of study so you graduate ready to make an impact in whatever you do.
Career Pathways
Our majors and minors are organized by career-related clusters to make it easier to find what you’re looking for and discover opportunities you haven’t considered. Pair your design major with a business minor. Enhance your biology degree with a minor in cultural anthropology. Nearly every degree major can be combined with a minor from another cluster. We encourage you to create a bigger, broader path of study that allows you to do more.
Industry-Experienced Faculty
Our national reputation for industry-standard labs and studios, highly specialized programs and student success has allowed UW-Stout to attract top educators, so you'll be mentored by world-renowned faculty. Most are recognized pacesetters in their fields, and all are experienced in their field. They contribute to professional organizations and journals, write books and lead seminars. And our faculty are known for being actively involved academic and career advisors.
