Following is a Q&A with one of the 1,375 students who received a diploma May 6 at UW-Stout.

Name: Courtney Kinneman
Hometown: Hager City
Major: Business Administration

Awards, honors: Graduated Magna Cum Laude

Why did you choose UW-Stout? I graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College with my marketing communications degree and then transferred to UW-Stout to get my business degree for broader knowledge in the work field.

What are the biggest challenges you faced in earning your degree? They were in regard to becoming involved. There are plenty of opportunities, but being a commuter student made it challenging to attend meetings on a weekly basis.

What stands out among your college experiences? A few situations that stood out over my college experience include the intimacy of campus. It's really comforting knowing that your professors know you by name in the hallways and are always willing to set time aside for you.

What’s next? Thanks to my degrees, I have accepted my dream job as an event coordinator upon graduation. The company, Persolvent, is in St. Paul Park, Minn.
