Developed to provide a transfer friendly and career focused program, this B.S. Business Information Technology transfer agreement is a collaborative effort between Colleges of the Wisconsin Technical College System and the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The 120-credit B.S. Business Information Technology degree has a 33-credit Stout Core (i.e., general education) requirement, a 9-credit Business and Leadership Fundamentals Core, a 39-41 credit Technical Foundations and Applied Technology Core, and 37-39 credits in electives that can be used to streamline the transfer process and/or complement the core program courses.

General Education courses offered as a part of the A.A.S. program at the WTCS colleges in the categories of Communication and Literacy, Humanities and Arts, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Math and Quantitative Reasoning, Civics and Perspectives, and Natural Science and Wellness areas may also transfer and be used towards the UW-Stout receiving program. These applicable courses have been pre-determined as to their transferability in Transferology. Those that have not been pre-determined may be considered on a case-by-case basis after a review of course syllabi through the transfer equivalency process.

A student from a qualified A.A.S. degree program will typically transfer 16-20 credits to UW-Stout’s Stout Core and 30-35 credits of elective credits. Certain A.A.S. degrees may fulfill additional requirements within the Business and Leadership Fundamentals and Technical Foundations and Applied Technology Cores. Due to these parameters, students transferring with a WTCS A.A.S. degree can anticipate 60-70 credits remaining upon acceptance to UW-Stout.

The following components apply for the B.S. Business Information Technology Transfer Agreement:

  1. Remaining general education requirements may be fulfilled through any regionally accredited post-secondary institution. It is the student’s responsibility to have official transcripts showing completion of these courses, including grades, forwarded to the UW-Stout to be added to their academic record and counted towards the B.S. degree.
  2. Students at UW-Stout will be required to complete a minimum of 32 credits in residence for a bachelor’s degree at UW-Stout.
  3. This updated articulation agreement applies only to the B.S. Business Information Technology degree in effect Fall 2025 until revised. A change of major invalidates these course/credits for transfer unless they are approved within some other program-to-program articulation agreement for another major at UW-Stout.
