When Cece transferred to UW-Stout Polytechnic, they arrived with a dream that extended far beyond earning a degree. Through their studies in animation and digital media, they are developing the technical skills needed to bring stories to life and pursue their goal of creating their own films one day.
"I don't see animation and digital media as my end goal," said Cece. "I see it as a tool to become a versatile artist."
Cece embraced Stout’s creative campus vibe from day one. From the senior art show and student exhibitions to films, sculptures, video games and design projects, Cece has taken full advantage of the opportunities available through Stout's welcoming arts community. These experiences have fostered both artistic growth and a sense of belonging, helping them develop the confidence and connections needed to succeed.
"The arts community at Stout is close-knit, but passionate and innovative," said Cece.
As an international student, Cece has approached every step of their educational journey with purpose and persistence. The individualized student support, innovative academic programs and a vibrant campus life have helped Cece continue to grow as an artist, a student and a leader while staying focused on their long-term goals.
"Without these resources and opportunities, it would have been impossible to make it as far as I have in my studies," said Cece.
In addition to their studies, Cece has embraced leadership, service and community engagement opportunities both on campus and throughout the Menomonie area. Cece is a leader in various student clubs, a contributing member on campus committees, a community volunteer, a tutor and a Resident Advisor with University Housing. Beyond these roles, Cece explores their creative passions through writing music and performing at local open mic events. Together, these experiences have helped shape Cece into an engaged leader and scholar while reinforcing what they believe is one of UW-Stout Polytechnic's greatest strengths: a #StoutProud community that genuinely cares about the success and wellbeing of every student.
"My time at Stout has helped me mature and make more focused career decisions," said Cece. "The faculty members are very easy to approach. They have helped clarify my goals and connect me with career opportunities. Campus as a whole is extremely supportive. That's been a great community for me."
A highlight of Cece's Stout experience has been participating in international night, an annual celebration of cultures from around the world. As a student leader, Cece has helped foster belonging, celebrate cultural diversity and bring students together through shared experiences and engagement.
"I feel proud to represent my country as an international student," said Cece. "I love how the international community continues to grow at Stout and create new opportunities for future students."
Cece has found opportunities to grow as a leader, build meaningful relationships and explore their passions both inside and outside the classroom. These experiences have strengthened Cece’s confidence, broadened their perspective and equipped them with the skills, connections and real-world experience needed to pursue their dream of owning an independent filmmaking studio.
