The UW-Stout Family and Consumer Sciences Program and the Wisconsin DPI are happy to host the 2023 Family and Consumer Sciences Education and WI DPI Child Care Conference. The conference is planned as an in-person event, and further details and updates about the structure of the conference will be posted as soon as finalized.

We hope this collaboration between UW-Stout and WI DPI will allow maximum participation for FCSE educators across the region. Attendance at the annual Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Child Care Conference is required for Family & Consumer Sciences educators teaching programs in Assistant Child Care Teacher [ACCT], Infant and Toddler [IT], and Child Care Teacher [CCT] skills certificate programs. Certain sessions and activities may be required if you are participating because you teach within the programs listed.

During this conference participants will be able to choose from multiple sessions on exciting new information in the field, as well as sessions presented by classroom practitioners with curriculum ideas to use in your classroom. We intend to provide the ability to explore exhibits with the latest educational resources and materials.

Special Invitation for High School students to visit UW-Stout:
Invite your high school students interested in careers in Family and Consumer Sciences Education to attend the conference and learn more about the field and educational opportunities here at Stout.

Christine PetersonKeynote Presentation - The Power of One: Kids and Trauma and How We Can Help!

Dr. Christine Peterson, Professor, School Psychology
University of Wisconsin-Stout

As kids come to school with more mental health needs than ever and at earlier ages, the research suggests that modest but strategic efforts on the part of educators and other school providers can go a long way toward fostering a sense of well-being for our learners. Dr. Peterson will elaborate on the state of mental health in today's youth by the numbers, and share real-world, day-one strategies to set kids up for everyday success - in school, at home, and in life.
