Situation
HUEBSCH began their Lean principles journey, engaging in multiple training sessions such as 5S and Lean Legos programs. The MOC’s decades-long partnership with HUEBSCH adapted to changes in locations, leadership, and equipment, necessitating several Lean Legos and 5S training sessions. These programs were vital in eliminating waste and enhancing value-added processes in HUEBSCH’s operations. Despite long-standing automation in laundry services, the challenge was training employees to use the technology efficiently.
Solutions
For nearly 30 years, HUEBSCH has partnered with the UW-Stout Manufacturing Outreach Center (MOC), navigating numerous transitions in buildings, equipment, and leadership. Throughout these changes, HUEBSCH has remained dedicated to improving operations and building an efficient, knowledgeable staff.

HUEBSCH’s innovation and success have been recognized in several publications, including The Business News and industry publication The Industrial Launderer. These articles highlight the technology and Lean systems employed in their plants. Management emphasized that their automation technology is designed to make employees’ jobs easier, not replace them.
Another unique aspect highlighted was HUEBSCH’s customization of services for each client. Using cellular production, they can take cells offline to create individualized plans for customers.
The long-term, dedicated relationship between HUEBSCH and the UW-Stout Manufacturing Outreach Center (MOC) is credited for the company’s success. Over several decades, through various training programs and changes in leadership, HUEBSCH has continued to grow and succeed.
