Dr. Desiah Melby is a lecturer in the Career and Technical Education program at University of Wisconsin–Stout Polytechnic and a communication instructor at Mid-State Technical College. She earned her Ed.D. in Career and Technical Education Leadership from UW–Stout Polytechnic in 2026.

Her teaching and scholarship focus on student success in career and technical education, artificial intelligence in teaching and learning, writing and communication instruction, and responsible AI use in higher education. Her research examines how students develop confidence, judgment, and ethical awareness when using generative AI in academic writing, with particular attention to adult learners and two-year postsecondary education.

Melby also contributes to institutional and statewide initiatives related to AI literacy, curriculum development, academic integrity, and faculty professional learning. Her work emphasizes helping students and educators make informed decisions about when, why, and how emerging technologies can meaningfully support learning.
