A television and social media star is coming to UW-Stout. Actor and comedian Josh Peck will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center. The event, hosted by the student-run Blue Devil Productions, is sold out. A crowd of close to 700 is expected.
Peck starred from 2004 to 2007 in the Nickelodeon show “Drake and Josh,” about two stepbrothers, one cool and one socially challenged. He has channeled that fame into success on the Internet and elsewhere, including appearances in the movies “Red Dawn” and “Take the 10” and as a stand-up comedian.
Peck, 32, who grew up in New York and lives in Los Angeles, recently was ranked No. 6 in the Top Actors Chart, which compiles information from social media sites. He moved into the top 10 after a reunion with “Drake and Josh” co-star Amanda Cosgrove. He has more than two million subscribers on his YouTube channel, 2.4 million Twitter followers and 5.3 million Instagram followers.
Peck has been doing stand-up comedy since age eight. “He delivers candid and funny insight into ‘making it’ as a child star and beyond,” according to Blue Devil Productions, a student-run events and entertainment group that is hosting the show.
Peck called his “Drake and Josh” fans a cult following but one that he’s proud of. “I’ll have kids come up to me and be like, ‘Dude you’re my childhood!’ and I’ll be like ‘You’re 28!’” he said in the Daily Orange at Syracuse University, where he performed recently.
