Hi there! My name is Katy, and I’m very excited to be working at UW-Stout as a First-Year Admissions Counselor. I attended and graduated from UW-Stout, and I had a wonderful experience boosting student engagement on campus through involvement and work experiences. Outside of work, you’ll find me hanging out with friends, thrifting, or relaxing at home reading or playing video games.
Advice for a new student:
College is your story to write and experience. It’s up to you to seek and pursue opportunities, develop new skills, and make connections. It might sound daunting, but there is so much freedom, growth, and fun to be had in the endless possibilities. Enjoy it!
College Major/Minors:
I have a B.S. in Professional Communication and Emerging Media with a concentration in the Digital Humanities. I also have two minors: Psychology and Project Management.
Why did you choose your major?
I always enjoyed writing and the importance of communication. For me, having the option to explore technical writing, creative writing, writing for the media, and other languages all in one major was an easy choice!
What do you love most about UW-Stout?
The Stout faculty and staff want to help and engage with students every day, regardless of their role on campus. We truly care about our students.
My favorite thing to do in Menomonie is…
Hang out with friends at the local coffee shops, restaurants, and while walking around town and the lake.
A random fact about me…
A studied abroad in Japan for a whole semester and continue to learn the language in my spare time.
