Stout MentorLink

UW-Stout's first-year peer-to-peer mentoring program
In this Section

UW-Stout has partnered with Mentor Collective to enhance students' first-year experience. Incoming students can choose to be paired with an upper-class mentor who is ready to listen, inspire, and help navigate UW-Stout. Stout MentorLink is a win-win for students and mentors alike. Mentors share their experiences and develop leadership skills while helping incoming students navigate their first year on campus.

How Stout MentorLink works:

Mentors

Volunteer mentors are upper-class students who are passionate about helping incoming students learn how to navigate campus and become Stout Proud like them. Mentors must have a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA and be sophomore level standing or higher. Highly engaged mentees from previous cohorts are also welcome to become mentors. Once mentors register for the program they complete a short matching survey and online training.

"My mentee has been an inspiration for me! As a senior I can point her in the right direction."

Mentees

Incoming students are encouraged to sign up for Stout MentorLink during First Year Registration and Orientation (FYRO). Once students register for the program they complete a matching survey and are connected with a mentor based on common interests, background, academics, and personal preferences. Conversations between mentees and mentors begin over the summer before students arrive on campus!

"My mentor really eased the pressure of starting the college experience."
