What's Included?
Students that are not eligible for the eStout Laptop Program have the ability to request to rent a business-grade UW-Stout Laptop that meets the demand of today's learning environment.
Laptops are:
- Set up with Microsoft 365 apps installed, with options to install other software you may need in your degree program.
- Supported by UW-Stout's Technology Help Desk
- Eligible for replacement if a device no longer performs or reaches end of life.
Rental Term & Pricing
Students are charged per term for usage of the Laptop Rental.

How the Program Works
To be eligible for the Program
For the rental term, the student must be enrolled in at least one credit, paying tuition, and not be eligible for the eStout Laptop Program.
Requesting a Laptop Rental
- Students can request a Student Laptop Rental through this Technology Help Desk Portal link: Student Laptop Rental Request
- LIT staff will evaluate the applicants eligibility and availability of laptops and notify the applicant.
- If the applicant is approved for a Student Laptop Rental, a laptop will be prepared by the Technology Help Desk staff and the student's account will be invoiced.
- The student will be notified for pickup when the laptop is ready to be issued.
Receiving a Laptop Rental
Laptops can be picked up at the Technology Help Desk, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4PM.
OR
- Students can also request to receive a Rental Laptop through shipping at no additional charge.
Using the Laptop Rental
As long as the student maintains eligibility for the Fall and Spring terms, the student does not need to return the Rental Laptop.
Rental Continuation
Students enrolled in subsequent terms are eligible to continue renting the laptop.
Returning the Laptop Rental
Students are required to return the Laptop Rental when you complete your program, are no longer enrolled in courses, or no longer want to rent a laptop.
