What is the payment and cancellation policy?

Credit-Based Continuing Education: For payment and refund policies for credit-based courses, consult Student Business Services.

Non-Credit Continuing Education and Events:

  • For payment for non-credit continuing education and events, payment is due at the time of registration and is typically by credit card.
  • If you cancel your registration seven or more calendar days before the program start date, you will receive a refund minus a $10 processing fee.
  • For cancellations made fewer than seven days before the start date, no refunds will be given, but you may send a substitute to take your place at no charge.
  • If you are registered and do not attend, you are still responsible for the full fee.
  • For online, open enrollment courses, you may request a full refund within seven days of registration, provided you have not accessed the learning environment. If you have accessed the learning environment, no refund is given.
  • Any additional requirements or exceptions to our non-credit policies are noted on the registration forms and webpages for those specific noncredit courses, programs, and events.
  • Substitution or refund requests for non-credit continuing education and events must be submitted via email or phone call to UW-Stout Continuing Education and Conferences: continuinged@uwstout.edu or 715-232-2793.

I never had to create an account before when I registered for a conference, event, or continuing education class. Why do I need to create an account now?

With our new registration system (GeniusCE), you’ll be asked to quickly create an account before registering. The good news—you only have to do this once. After that, your account will make things much easier for you:

  • See all your course and event registrations in one place
  • Download certificates (if offered) whenever you need them
  • Access and save your training transcript anytime

If you have any questions or need help, we’re happy to help at continuinged@uwstout.edu.

Will I need a new account if I’ve attended conferences or taken courses with you before?

Yes. Because we’re using a new system (GeniusCE), you’ll need to create a new account—even if you’ve registered with us in the past. The good news is you only need to do this once, and then you’ll be able to keep all your registrations, certificates, and training records in one place moving forward.

Is there a cost to create a GeniusCE account?

No. Creating a GeniusCE account is free. You’ll only pay for conferences, events, or courses that have a registration fee.

Who do I contact if I have trouble registering or accessing my GeniusCE account?

If you run into any issues, we’re here to help. Please contact us at continuinged@uwstout.edu, and our team will assist you.

How do I register for a conference or course using the new registration system?

From our webpage, click “Learn More” or “Register Now” to go to the course page in the GeniusCE catalog. Choose your enrollment option and click “Add to Cart,” then select “View Cart” to check out. You’ll be prompted to create an account (if you haven’t already) and enter your registration details. The process is quick and makes future registrations easier. You’ll receive a confirmation message once your registration is complete.

Can I update my registration or personal information after I sign up?

After creating your account, you can log in anytime to update your personal information and view your registrations; however, if you need to change your name, please contact us at continuinged@uwstout.edu so that we can assist you.  If you need help making changes to a registration you completed, feel free to contact us.

Will I receive confirmation and reminders for my course or event?

Yes. A benefit of the GeniusCE system is that you’ll receive a confirmation email with course or event details after your register and other reminder emails as your course or event approaches and then concludes.

Can I register multiple people at once (e.g., a team or group)?

Registration must be completed by one person at a time so that each participant has their own account and record of participation. If you’re registering a group, please contact us for assistance at continuinged@uwstout.edu.

My child wants to participate in one of your courses. How do I register them?

Some continuing education courses allow youth. If they are allowed, it will be specified on the course webpage, along with any rules for their participation and registration (e.g., for in-person continuing education courses, youth aged 12+ are often allowed but only if accompanied by their parent or guardian for the entirety of the class). If the course or event webpage says that youth are allowed, the parent or guardian will need to create a GeniusCE account and register themselves and their child through that system.

Is my personal information secure in the new system?

Yes. GeniusCE is designed to securely store your information so you can access your registrations, certificates, and training history whenever you need them.

What is the disability accommodations policy?

UW-Stout Continuing Education & Conferences welcomes individuals with disabilities and individualized needs. To request accommodations, please contact us at continuinged@uwstout.edu or call 715-232-2793. While we encourage requests at least two weeks in advance, we will make every effort to accommodate those made closer to the program date. All requests are confidential.

The Universities of Wisconsin is an EEO/Affirmative Action employer and complies with Title IX and ADA requirements, offering equal opportunities in employment and programming.

Does my course or event provide a credential?

Some of our continuing education courses and events offer a credential appropriate to the content and completion requirements, whether that is a certificate, digital badge, clock hours, or continuing education units (CEUs). Note: A CEU is ten (10) contact hours. If a credential is offered, it is typically indicated on the specific course or event webpage; however, if you are wondering about a particular course or event, please email continuinged@uwstout.edu or call 715-232-2793 to inquire.

Where can I park on campus?
