What is the total cost of camp and what does that include?

The cost for the Virtual Summer STEAM Experience at UW-Stout is $150.00. This includes four days of online programing from Monday morning to Thursday afternoon. The fee includes all camp activities and instructor time.

When is the online camp running?

Camp starts on Monday, June 15th and ends on Thursday, June 18.  We will run online programming from 9 am to 4 pm with two to three breaks each day.

We recommend the student logs on five to ten minutes prior to the start of any program to make sure they are ready for it to start on time.

Refunds and Attendee Substitutions Policy

Refunds:
Refunds will be granted, less a $30 processing fee, upon written request (email is acceptable) through June 1, 2020. Refunds will not be granted after this date. Substitutions may be made with one-week advance notice.

Program changes and cancellation:
The university reserves the right to make changes in programs and activities or to cancel programs if enrollment criteria are not met or when conditions beyond its control prevail. Every effort will be made to contact each attendee if a program is not held for any reason. The university's liability is limited to the refund of the program fee.

What will my camper need?

Computer access, a mouse are required and high-speed internet is recommended.  We also recommend the student find a quite place to work from with little to no distractions.  If a student is having a slow connection they can turn off their camera which can drastically increase their connection.

We will email each parent and camper login information to access the program.

What forms does my child need to fill out to attend camp?

Agreement for Assumption of Risk, Indemnification, Release

Virtual Program Expectations and Parental Permission

What is the protocol for camper safety?
  1. We will ensure that every program has two camp staff always present and if not possible the program will be recorded.
  2. We will also close all video sessions once they have ended.
  3. Only participants of the program will have access to online content and videos.
  4. Any unknown participants will be removed from the video conference.
  5. Private chat features will be disabled for all programs.

Report illegal or inappropriate online behavior by staff or program participants to Jim Uhlir, UW-Stout Safety and Risk Management Director, uhlirj@uwstout.edu or 715/232-2188.

What kind of supervision will my child have?

UW-Stout faculty and teaching assistants will instruct during tracks and Stout faculty, staff, and a head counselor will assist or lead the activities.  Two camp staff will be on all video conferences or the sessions will be recorded to ensure camper safety.

What should my child expect & what will they walk away with?

Camp instructors and staff have designed specific tracks and activities for campers to focus on throughout their week:

Campers should expect an intense but fun week of programming, both in and out of the classroom.  Campers will feature their completed work at the Showcase on Thursday afternoon.

What kind of activities will be outside of the classroom?

Camp activities will include but are not limited to video and board games, resume help, campus and lab tours, and a college student panel.

Disciplinary Policies

The camp reserves the right, upon notification of parents/legal guardians, to dismiss any camper during any session for improper conduct, language, dress or attitude which, in the judgment of the Summer STEAM Experience administrative and counseling staff, is detrimental to the well-being of other campers or smooth operation of the camp.
