Introduction to the Gateway

The Housing Gateway is your one-stop-shop for everything that has to do with living on-campus.  From the Gateway, you can do any of the following:

  • Apply for housing
  • Sign your contract
  • Select dining plan
  • Select a room
  • Apply for exemption
  • Select a roommate
  • Change roommates
  • Request air conditioner
  • Maintenance requests
  • Laundry refunds
  • Request bike locker
  • Cancel future contracts

When Applying for Housing

After you are accepted and have a Stout ID number, log into the Gateway and have the following information ready to reserve a space on-campus:

Information Preferences
  • Stout student ID number
  • Stout username (your email)
  • Stout email password
  • Anticipated program/major
  • Living Community interest
  • Residence Hall and Roommate (if any)
  • Double or triple room
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol use
  • LGBTQ Friendly

Additional Information

  • You may select your own residence hall and room on-campus if you sign your contract before March 1. Be sure to check out all of our FYE Residence Halls before signing up for housing.
  • The UW System Board of Regents policy requires students must live on campus for two years after high school graduation. Please don't sign an off-campus lease prior to talking with University Housing.
